Mid-Month Update: October 2013
We hope you take these last couple of weeks to enjoy the great products of our areas’ farmers markets. Be sure and check with your favorite growers and producers to see if they sell from stands or online in the “off season.” The FV Community Market happily and proudly supports the following farms because they believe in us and have joined the co-op!
· Wilkerson Farms (farm sales in Willow Spring)
— We hear they have fresh turkeys!
· In Good Heart Farm in Clayton (CSA in Clayton, with pick-up in Raleigh)
· Holland Farm Produce in Fuquay-Varina
(Roadside stand on the corner of Holland and Purfoy Roads)
· Green Bee Farms (online sales)
· R.B. Mason Farms
· Ogburn Produce & Berries (farm sales in Willow Spring)
What’s coming up
Fair Trade Store – It’s part of our mission “to connect our community to local, organic and Fair Trade products.” Come visit the Fair Trade Store at FV United Methodist Church on Judd Parkway on Oct. 25 & 26 from 8 am – 8 pm. You’ll have the opportunity to jumpstart your Christmas shopping while learning the critical part fairly trade items play in our global economy. The co-op will have a table, and we’ll be selling t-shirts too (stocking stuffers…).
Happy Hour at Sip in Holly Springs – On Monday, Nov. 4th from 7-9 pm, Sip Coffee and Wine Bar in Holly Springs (Bass Lake Draft House building) will host the FV Community Market for a Happy Hour. Come taste some Sip appetizers on us, and feel free to purchase wine or coffee while we talk about the co-op and answer questions.
Field Trip! – Are you on the fence about this co-op thing and just wish you could visit one in person? Here’s your chance. We are organizing a field trip to the Company Shops in Burlington on Monday, November 11. This will be an informal browse-shop-eat expedition at NC’s newest food co-op store which opened in the summer of 2011. We will meet at 11 am at the FV High School parking lot and carpool or drive in tandem to the store. Let us know if you want to come along by responding to this email. We’ll arrive in time for lunch at their hot/cold bar, and bring your shopping bags. We’ll have some coolers too. We plan to be back in Fuquay around 2:30.
Enjoy fall, purchase locally, eat seasonally and pass this email along to someone who wants more for their community.
Thanks,
Tammie Quick, chairperson
